As a media psychologist, I work to bring compassion and understanding to the forefront of news and current events which would otherwise be merely sensationalistic. Framing popular news and current events stories in the context of psychology helps us all to remember that we are all human beings capable of both great triumphs and defeats. It encourages us to think twice and consider our fellow man’s feelings and unique perspective.
I enjoy reaching out and sharing my knowledge of psychology and helping people in any way that I can. Every Saturday for the last 25 years, I’ve hosted my own radio show on AM 1230 – WFAS. My radio show, Here’s to Your Good Health, discusses mental health issues such as addiction and recovery and often hosts guest appearances from experts in the field of psychology and even celebrities just for fun. (Listen to my recent guest appearance from Art Garfunkel.)
As a recognized expert in Addiction psychology, I am often asked to speak about addiction and the road to recovery. I like to bring my personal sense of compassion and understanding, when discussing mental health issues and their causes and implications. I coined the term Carefrontation to describe my belief that individuals dealing with addictions and other serious mental health disorders need understanding and compassion rather than anger and distance.
I have had the privilege of being interviewed by every major television network, as well as many international publications, and international social media outlets. I always love that I am given the opportunity to educate the public on some psychological phenomenon, or to discuss the psychological factors of a breaking news story.
